Home Missioner Application 2019-2020
The Home Missioner position is a ten-week commitment. The scope of this ministry position includes the following areas:
1) Working with the Campus Ministers and Ministries of Auburn to reach out to incoming freshmen at Camp War Eagle. The process includes a very active presence at Camp War Eagle and coordinating with the ministries to encourage freshmen to fill out religious preference cards, organize the receiving of cards and redistribution of them to the appropriate ministry. Developing a good relationship with CWE counselors is essential.
2) Working with the Outreach ministry area of the Wesley Foundation to develop a well-planned outreach to incoming United Methodist students and others interested in Wesley. This involves emails, Facebook, newsletters and invitations to Fall kick-off activities. Working closely with the outreach Council person is essential.
3) Support of Auburn Wesley Foundation students serving in ministry and mission during the summer is also an important part of the home missioner’s work. Encouragement of those in mission takes on various forms each summer.
4) The Home missioner is a part of the staff during the summer. Active participation and leadership in the summer ministry activities is expected.
