These are some questions to find out what Wesley means to the people within its fellowship and what it is all about.
1. What has been your favorite Wesley Event?
My favorite Wesley trip was the Spring Break Chicago trip! On this trip I only new a couple of the people that were going, and by the end of the trip I felt like I was best friends with everybody! Chicago helped me grow and become more aware of the world which I live in. It helped me realize how lucky we are to just be a student at Auburn, let alone be able to be a part of the Wesley ministry!
- Lauren BondMy favorite Wesley event was the Women's retreat. I personally have a hard time opening up around girls. This gave me time to bond with some really cool people who were struggling with some of the same things I was. It was a great time of laughing and worship.
- Meagen Smith2. How did Wesley become your ministry?
I first came to Wesley at the Freshman dinner during the first week of school. I was really scared because I did not know anyone, but before I knew it I was laughing and could not wait to continue to get to know the people I met. I kept coming and fell in love with the people. As I began to grow in Christ with my new friends, Wesley became the place where I felt at home.
- Caitlin BurauI grew close with a few guys during my first semester and we all grew in our Faith together. College would not be nearly as good without Wesley. It's a place to grow closer in community and to our Heavenly Father.
- Stephen Brandon3. How has Wesley helped you to grow?
Wesley has helped me over the past two years by providing me with the opportunities and community I needed to grow in my faith.
- Erin WalkerWesley has help me branch out and meet so many new people. It's helped me to open up and share myself with people I really haven't known for that long; Wesley just makes it easy to open up and make new friends.
- Meg Reaves4. How would you describe the Wesley Community?
It's really like a family! Within the first couple weeks at Auburn I knew I would love it. I went from knowing 2 people here to having countless amount of amazing, God loving, fun brothers and sisters.
- Stephanie KearnsThe Wesley community is more like a family. Wesley is my home when I'm in auburn. I'll always remember after everyone got back from spring break, there was so much excitement and joy in the air. the fireside room was filled with shouts of reunion and the hugs of close friends. we didn't realized we missed it until we were all back together.
-Ben Jackson5. How would you like to see Wesley grow next year?
I would love to see Wesley grow in its local ministry. I want Wesley to be a place where we can come to grow together in our relationship with Christ. Then I want us to be hungry and desire to take that incredible message and relationship out to the area around us and truly be lights unto this world.
- Jeremey Walker6. What word would you use to describe Wesley and why?
I know it's going to sound cheesy, but I really would describe Wesley as an overgrown family. It's become my family at Auburn. I've lived and traveled with people I met at Wesley. It's the group of people I turn to when things are going great in my life and when I need someone to show me where the light is. Over the summer, when I'm at home, the people from Auburn that I'm mainly talking to are the others that go to Wesley. I can't go home randomly to see my family-family. But I can call up my Wesley-family at 2 in the morning for a drive around University.
-Nicole FratrickIn one word I would say Fellowshipping. Wesley is a place where wholesome fellowship can be found.
-Cameron King7. Why would you suggest Wesley to someone you know?
I would suggest Wesley to someone I know because there are so many wonderful opportunities to get involved at Wesley. It is a wonderful place to use your gifts and to get to know other people while doing so.
-Laura SearcyI would suggest Wesley to someone because I know that Wesley is a place where they can come and grow closer to God, and make life long friends that will help them in their journey with Christ.
-Dane Grovenstein8. Why is it important to get involved with a campus ministry?
College is a time to mature and to figure out what kind of person you will be. That is why you move away from home and pick a major. I completely disagree with those who see college as a time to slack off in your faith. It is actually the perfect time to grow in it. To find out what your response will be to Christ.
- Kristan LewisIt is very important to get involved with a campus ministry, especially freshman year, because right off the bat you can find a group of people who you can become close to and grow with, and it is important to surround yourself with people who have the same values that you do so that you can stay true to your faith amidst the challenges of coming to college. It also is a great way to find missions opportunities and ways to serve the community and reach out to people.
